Mumbai: Mumbai witnessed an extraordinary evening of devotion, music and spirituality as National Award-winning vocalist Rahul Deshpande presented his acclaimed musical production, Abhangawari, to a packed Shanmukhananda Hall on Saturday.

Shanmukhananda Hall resonated with the soul-stirring sounds of timeless abhangs as Rahul Deshpande transformed the iconic venue into a sacred musical pilgrimage. Every rendition echoed with devotion, filling the auditorium with an atmosphere of faith, emotion and spiritual bliss. Thousands of music lovers and devotees immersed themselves in the divine verses of Maharashtra’s revered saint-poets, making it an unforgettable evening where music became prayer and every note touched the soul.

Among the distinguished guests present were Vandana Deshpande, Rahul Deshpande’s mother; Ashish Shelar, Cabinet Minister for Information Technology & Cultural Affairs; Shrikant Bharatiya, BJP Member of the Maharashtra Legislative Council; Supriya Sule, Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) and National Working President; industrialist Sadanand Sule; and Parag Satoskar, CEO, Oriental Aromatics Ltd, who joined the audience in experiencing the musical celebration of Maharashtra’s rich Bhakti tradition.

Now in its 11th year, Abhangawari has grown into one of India’s most celebrated devotional musical experiences. Through Rahul Deshpande’s powerful vocals, evocative storytelling, soulful renditions by his sister Deepti Mate, and a stellar ensemble of musicians, the performance beautifully recreated the spirit of the Pandharpur Wari, bringing Maharashtra’s rich Bhakti tradition alive on stage

The audience remained spellbound throughout the nearly three-hour presentation, joining in the chants of “Ram Krishna Hari” and responding with repeated applause and standing ovations. The concert featured timeless compositions of Sant Dnyaneshwar, Sant Tukaram, Sant Namdev, Sant Eknath and other revered saint-poets, creating a deep emotional and spiritual connection with the audience.

Following acclaimed performances across Pimpri-Chinchwad, Indore, Hyderabad, Delhi, Bengaluru, Amravati and Nagpur, the Mumbai concert added yet another glorious chapter to the Abhangawari journey. The overwhelming response once again reaffirmed Rahul Deshpande’s unique ability to bridge generations through devotional music while preserving and celebrating Maharashtra’s timeless cultural and spiritual heritage.
